Complaining had become a routine in my life. Though I had enough reasons to be happy, my unsatisfied nature had blinded me to see the good things happening around me. I used to whine for everything and mistakes of people irritated me, as though I was flawlessly perfect. Nobody was happy with me, neither my parents. And this made me unhappy. But things changed its form when our new neighbor moved into her apartment just opposite to our’s. She was a widow and was alone. Her children were settled in their own life and places far away. They visited her once in a while. She was a charming lady in her late sixties. She always had a blissful smile on her face. She used to visit my house often. And I had never found her crying, whining or complaining, though she had many reasons to be such. She had in her the energy, which even I did not have. She hardly used sit. Her choice for being happy had made her overcome many problems in her life. Initially I used to get irritated seeing her, but slowly I started liking her. And gradually her presence made an impact in my life. I started whining less, and whenever I was down and felt like cursing things for happening such, I tried not to complain. I rather thought of that lady and her ability to smile all the while. She was aging gracefully and I was growing into a light hearted lady being with her. Today I am much content and happier, and so is everybody around. This article is a gratitude to that great lady who taught me to choose happiness over unhappiness. It’s all in our hands, after all.

Well, recently I started a new business, or lets say, an entertainment center for kids and adults which has billiards, table tennis and Xbox gaming.                       Then, comes the INVESTMENT part. Well, to be precise, when you invest in your business, you cannot think of profit for a year or so. Similarly, when you invest on your girl, you cannot be sure if that will work or no. In both cases, you can see the profit after a year or so. Profit may differ in each one’s case as what they see as profit, but to be frank business is tough. Only after you poke your nose into it you will know whether your decision is right or wrong. LOL!!!

On the great day of 18 June 1980, Shakuntala Devi gave the product of two, 13 digit figures within 28 seconds. Her name finds its place in the Guinness book of records for her amazing talents. She has written several books like Puzzles to Puzzle You, More Puzzles to Puzzle You, Book of Numbers, Figuring: The Joy of Numbers, In the Wonderland of Numbers, Astrology for you and many other such books. She has also shown interest in Astrology. Her future plans include opening several research centers dedicated to mathematics.

My friend’s first love story from her diary-

My life was so boring and dull before I met Sham. Life took a sudden change when I saw this guy. He was different and not of my type, yet I do not know I liked him the instant I saw him. I was drawn so much towards him that I just could not stop thinking of him. I was totally in love with him. It was my first love experience and never knew how to deal with it. I was just a good friend to him, but he was more than a friend to me. I used to call him everyday to hear him. I was never such before. I used to hate the male gender. No reasons though. But after meeting Sham, he became an exception. He was good, genuine and the best part of my life. I liked everything about him- His talks, his looks, his care towards all his friends. I could not resist myself from letting him know, my feelings. One fine day, I called him and told those three magical words to him. He took time to reply but I was sure somewhere even he loved me. After many months, he reciprocated my feeling with a positive tone. That day was the happiest moment of my life. And today we both are happily married couple. I still feel if at all I would not have taken the bold step in expressing myself and about my love to him, I would have lost a chance to live happily with a wonderful husband.

It is not good always to shift over from one person to another in a relationship. Getting into a relationship is one thing that needs real care and thinking before any decision is made. Once a relationship is made, it must be for a lifetime unless there is any unavoidable circumstances. Every relationship demands a lot of work. It requires many adjustments and understanding. It cannot be established just like that, if so they break easily. 

Making a relationship last longer is essential. In this fast moving world, nobody is bothered about relationships. They seem to have turned their mind towards making more and more money. Relationships are being taken for granted once a certain level of intimacy is reached. We stop working for it completely, we forget to shape it now and then. This results in breaking up. 

All human beings are not the same. It is obvious to have differences between the both of you. Your values, thoughts, feelings or beliefs may differ with each other. The most important thing is how you work on it to make your relationship a success. Every relationship involves two of them who need to love, accept and learn to live happily with each other. First, find out how different you are from your partner and see if it has any possibility of hurting the relationship. If yes, then work on it to smoothen the situation.

Similarly, it is very important for you to keep your partner’s values in mind. Never try to ignore them. The best solution to the toughest problem in a relationship is to sit down and talk. Even after this if you find yourself with huge differences then it is better to break up. But you must try your level best to stay together, if you think the relationship will survive. True and strong relationships should never die. All the efforts that you take to maintain your relationship will surely pay you back in future years!!!

The headline may sound absurd for some but might make sense to some people. As far as I am concerned, it makes me wonder!!! What is peace? What is love? Does peace and love mean the same? Let me be more specific in this issue. Let’s say you had a nasty fight with an unknown person. It turns out to be really nasty one. Just when he is going to give you his first fist blow, he stops and says “Heck! Leave it!” and walks off. OK!! Now, does this mean the guy who resisted hitting you has shown you love or just that he wanted peace? Some might argue that he just wanted no blood shed and so he walked away. This is a kind of peace. Others might say that he would have felt badly and so he left. This situation may be categorized as love. If you ask me, love and peace are interlinked. The place where you find love, you will find peace. It may sound really insane but that is the fact. Both are of the same origin. Just that some characteristics may differ as we have seen in the above mentioned case. The person may have left you unharmed out of frustration or thinking that it may turn into an even nastier fight. So, we may conclude saying that it was more out of his own concern that he left you. So, it is peace.

Love doesn’t actually show off itself as love, but it surfaces up in various forms such as peace, selfishness, possessiveness etc. Love and peace are interlinked rather than being the same!!!

If there is something that brings us closer to the nature beyond the concrete walls of our houses, it is a garden. Not all of us can boast of a garden on par with the Rashtrapati Bhavan gardens but it is within our power to devote a part of our surroundings to this state. May be limited to few pots lining the balcony of a flat but a garden is not an interior designer tool, it is a gateway leading us away from the maddening array of man-made suffocating sophistication. Gardening is a hobby to many and a worthwhile hobby that too. 

While words of admiration tumble out from the onlookers, yet the pleasure is greatest for the person who engages in setting up a garden. A mere spread of green grass invites us to stretch ourselves out. Flowers of various hues, butterflies, tiny little birds poking their beaks into the flowers, rustling breeze add glamour to the play that unfolds with us in it. In today’s constrained world, where everything seems limited from water, job opportunities to living place, not many think gardens are necessary. They are more than willing to convert a potential garden space into more rooms. The fact that one gets to see many houses rising right up from the parapet wall is a testimony to this disturbing trend. Alas! What man is so easily forgetting is that in his chase for a comfortable life, he has taken a path that is leading him away from the ecosystem and which by default will lead to his destruction.
